SURVIVOR HEALTH · DAYZ
Salmonellosis
Salmonella is a foodborne agent in DayZ that causes vomiting and pain, with losses of energy and water. It is distinct from the Food Poison agent.
What does the food table mean?
Salmonella identifies the SALMONELLA agent recorded in a food preparation. Some raw meat and fish preparations carry this agent. The food table lists only the agents configured for that preparation, not every possible source of contamination.
Effects on your survivor
The salmonellosis modifier activates at an agent count of 60 and deactivates at 20 or below. It causes an initial vomiting episode and periodic pain. Further vomiting checks depend on stomach volume and agent load; vomiting can drain energy and water and temporarily affect stamina.
Charcoal tablets
The charcoal modifier lasts 300 seconds. Its direct Salmonella reduction starts only after 200 seconds and removes 2.85 agents per second during the final 100 seconds.
Remaining agent load and subsequent exposure affect recovery; the duration is not a guaranteed cure time.
Reading the risk correctly
Food Poison and Salmonella are different agents with different modifiers. A preparation with no listed agent can still be contaminated through handling; absence from the food-stage table is not a promise of safety.
