Food poisoning

Food poisoning is a separate agent from Salmonella in DayZ. It can cause vomiting, energy and water loss, and temporary exhaustion.

What does the food table mean?

The label Food Poison represents the FOOD_POISON agent recorded in the food-stage configuration. Rotten and burned apple are examples of preparations that carry this agent. The table describes a risk, not a fixed probability of becoming ill.

Effects on your survivor

The poisoning modifier rolls for vomiting according to the amount of food-poison agent in the survivor. Vomiting can drain energy and water and temporarily affect stamina recovery and depletion.

Charcoal tablets

The charcoal modifier lasts 300 seconds. While it is active, FoodPoisonAgent returns a die-off value of 0.5. This differs from the delayed Salmonella reduction in CharcoalMdfr.

This is a reduction mechanism, not a promise of immediate recovery or a fixed tablet count. Stomach contents, agent load and further exposure affect the outcome.

Avoiding the configured risk

Choose a food preparation without the listed agent when available. A dash in the table only means no agent is recorded in that preparation; it does not guarantee that the food has not been contaminated during handling.
